Why R-APC Will Soon Pick Its Own Presidential Candidate – Galadima

National Chairman of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), Buba Galadima has revealed why the splinter group may soon pick its own presidential candidate ahead of the 2019 general election.

He said that although the group was not seeking to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as an independent party, it would pick a presidential candidate if the court rules against the Adams Oshiomhole-led leadership of the party.

He made this known in Abuja at a meeting organised by various women’s groups.

He said, “We have 75% representation across the country. We are not making efforts to register with INEC. Moreover the APC we are trying to reform is our vehicle. We do not need INEC. We need the court to rule in our favour.”

On choosing a presidential candidate for 2019, Galadima queried, “Why not if the court says we are the authentic leadership?”

He lamented that the core values for establishing the APC had become eroded, leaving the party worse than the Peoples Democratic Party ( APC) it replaced.

He added, “All we are seeking is fair play, transparency, justice, level play ground and that everything that was done to bring the so-called National Working Committee to office is being challenged in the court and God willing, we will get justice in court.

“We were voted into office because we promised that we will do better than our predecessors but instead of doing better than our predecessors we are worse than them. We did not bargain that all criminal elements and people of questionable character will be migrating into our party to the extent that APC has now turned itself into a safe haven for those facing corruption charges.”
