The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani has warned against indiscriminate declaration of defeat of Boko Haram by Nigerian authorities.
The senator made this known in a Saturday afternoon tweet on his verified Twitter handle.
He said the practice was causing panic among residents of the areas affected by the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency.
Sani said Boko Haram has always hit back hard anytime it was declared defeated and the victims were the hapless residents of affected areas.
He tweeted, “Whenever an official statement is made that the insurgents have been defeated,People in the affected towns & villages are supposed to be happy but they instead become scared;because the insurgents will always like to show that they are not defeated.”
