Argentina striker, Sergio Aguero has given further insight into the personality of Albiceleste teammate and long-time friend, Lionel Messi.
He joked about the six-time Ballon D’Or winner’s penchant for “always complaining”, adding that they often argued “like an old married couple”.
The bosom friends often share a room when on international duty, more than a decade after getting their first senior national team call-ups. Messi joined the Argentina senior national team in 2005, while Aguero joined a year later.
They have been together through three World Cups, four Copa Americas and won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Speaking to a local station, Aguero said, “He (Messi) always complains, we are like an old married couple.
“I always fall asleep with the TV on and when I wake up the next morning he is always complaining to me.
“He arrives at the hotel and instantly takes a shower while I’m just sitting talking on my mobile phone. Then he will remind me that we need to go down to dinner and we do not have time.”
Argentina secured a crucial 2-1 win over Bolivia on Tuesday night to brighten their chances of 2022 World Cup appearance in Qatar.
