Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed never to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) again even if not chosen as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Atiku made this known while addressing party supporters at the PDP headquarters in Minna as part of consultations ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.
The ex-vice president said there would be no need for him to leave the party, expressing confidence of picking the party’s presidential ticket if a level playing field is provided.
Also. he appealed to the party’s leadership to ensure that a fair and transparent presidential primary is conducted to pick a truly deserving candidate.
Atiku said only such dedication to fairness and transparency would give the party victory in the 2019 general elections.

“I am ever ready to work towards the success of the party if level-playing ground is provided during the party primaries .
“Whether I become the presidential candidate or not, I want to assure you that I will always discharge my obligations to ensure the success of the polls,” he said.
Atiku disclosed his intention to abide by the decision arrived at when all the presidential aspirants met with the National Working Committee (NWC) and pledged to support whoever emerges as presidential candidate.
Speaking on his reasons for visiting Niger, Atiku said he was in the state to solicit the support of party members, especially delegates to the forthcoming convention to actualise his presidential aspiration.
