Arsenal manager Unai Emery has explained why he took off midfielder Alex Iwobi at half time during the game against Wolves.
The Gunners who had come into the game on the back of three draws, went behind after a mistake from Granit Xhaka gifted the opposition a goal.
Iwobi was one of the more positive players in an Arsenal shirt in the firs half and while a lot of the things he tried to do didn’t come off, he was always trying to make something happen.

This was why his removal at half time for Matteo Guendouzi raise a number of eyebrows.
The Gunners were able to come back into the game, but they didn’t play very well
“It was a tactical change,” said Emery on the Arsenal website after the game
“We wanted to play our right and left backs deeper and win back more possession inside with Sead and Hector.
“Sometimes we did this situation well and we created chances to score. Their work was good defensively because their block was very high.”
Iwobi currently has 4 assists and a goal this season and has looked like a man changed under Unai Emery. With an International break now in front of him, he has to try and do the business for Nigeria who have African Cup of Nations qualifiers to worry about.
