Popular comic actor, Afeez Oyetoro aka Saka has said he would not be leaving his job as a lecturer at the Theatre Arts Department, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Ijanikin, Lagos to concentrate on acting anytime soon.
He made this known in an interview published by The Punch on Friday.
According to him, lecturing and acting go hand in hand, as such there is no need to drop one for the other.
Saka said, “There is little or no difference between teaching and acting. I enjoy doing both. When you teach in the classroom, you are officially disseminating information. It is almost the same thing as what an actor does on stage or in a film. An actor entertains and at the same time, passes a message to his audience.
“My work as a teacher of theatre arts enhances my practical methodology. When I go outside the classroom to act in a movie or on stage, I gain additional experience and bring back it to the classroom. Such experience enhances my teaching methodology.”
Saka, who until recently was the Head of Department for Theatre Arts at AOCOED, added that he is able to combine the tasking job of acting with his lecturing job because of the support of the school’s management.
