Why Billionaire Kidnap Kingpin, Evans Has Not Been Arraigned – Police

2 Min Read

Following the arrest of billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme George Onwuamadike popularly known as Evans two weeks ago, the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, is yet to arraign the arrested suspect in court.

Speaking on why it is yet to arraign the suspect who has confessed to so many criminal activities including drug trafficking, theft and kidnapping, the Nigerian Police has revealed that it is yet to conclude investigations into his case.

Speaking on the arrest of the 36-year-old criminal mastermind and kidnap kingpin who revealed he has made over $7billion from the trade, the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, on Monday, stated that Evans would be arraigned after investigations are completed.

Recall that a Lance Corporal identified as Victor Chukwunonso, attached to the Nigeria Army Band Corps, Abatti Barracks, Surulere, Lagos State was arrested some days ago for allegedly belonging to the kidnap kingpin’s gang and another soldier is reportedly under investigations and would be captured soon.

Speaking on the case, the police further noted that it is still taking an inventory of Evan’s criminal activities.

Punch however reported the Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moshood Jimoh to have said: “After investigations, the Inspector-General of Police will give directive onwhat to do.

“There are some other pieces of information about the suspect that must be known to us about things that happened years ago. We have to update all of them in our record. You can call the FPRO for other necessary information.”

The Police spokesperson further noted that the command is yet to present Evans for a media interview since he was arrested and paraded on June 11, 2017.

“Journalists interviewed him during the parade led by the FPRO. Information being put out now probably came from the parade on that day. I am not aware of any other parade.”
