Club owner Silvio Berlusconi has revealed why AC Milan decided to sign Mario Balotelli on loan instead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic whom the club initially planned to sign.
Berlusconi said the Rossoneri tabled their interest in Ibrahimovic before Paris Saint Germain but the French club would not sell him.
He further stated that Ibrahimovic indicated his desire to play for Milan but was contract-bound to PSG, saying that he really wanted the Swedish striker to don the Milan jersey again.
According to him the decision was justified because at 25 Balotelli is younger than Ibrahimovic who is 33.
Balotelli initially joined Liverpool from Milan in a £16million deal in 2014, but returned on a season-long loan to a club he once regarded in an interview as his “boyhood” club.
