Whoopi Goldberg Defends Tom Cruise’s Viral COVID Outburst

2 Min Read

Whoopi Goldberg has come to the defense of Tom Cruise after the Mission: Impossible 7 star was caught yelling at crew members for violating COVID-19 protocols.

On Wednesday morning, The View took a break from politics to discuss about the audio, audio of which was released by The Sun.

Reacting to the audio, Whoopi Goldberg aided with Tom Cruise.

“You know, some people don’t understand why he would get so angry,” Goldberg said on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” adding, “I get it.”

She explained to her non-Hollywood counterparts that it would be impossible to produce Mission: Impossible 7 if Cruise contracts COVID-19.

“If he goes down with COVID, the movie’s done,” she said. “You can’t get another Tom Cruise!”

She played a clip of the tense interaction, in which Cruise can be heard yelling, “If I see you doing it again, you’re fucking gone!”

“You can get a new camera operator — no disrespect to camera operators. You can get a new sound man,” said Goldberg.

“But if [Cruise] is looking over and he can see you not doing what you’re supposed to be doing, it’s kind of like a little bit of a middle finger, in my opinion.”

The majority of “The View” co-hosts sided with Cruise.

“I believe that Tom Cruise was completely justified in doing that,” Behar said, while Hostin suggested the safety violation “probably warrants his rage, his anger, his disappointment.”

Sara Haines was the show’s voice of dissent, pointing out that “Only a Tom Cruise on a set could get away with that … You should never speak to grown adults like the way he just did.”
