When WhatsApp pulled the plug on Windows Mobile last December they promised plugs would be pulled on Android 2.3.7 (a.k.a Gingerbread) and iOS 7 and its antecedents.
That promise looks set to be fulfilled on the 1st of February 2020.
From the said date, the Facebook-owned app will no longer support Android 2.3.7 and lower and iOS 7 and lower.
Users still on iPhone 4 and some older Android phones would need phone upgrades if they are to continue to enjoy IM services provided by the tech giant.
So, you may want to save a backup of your chats before Saturday if your phone is running any of the old Operating Systems. That way, you will have your important conversations intact upon switching to a more recent phone.
