President Muhammadu Buhari has lectured Muslims faithful in Nigeria on what they must not do in the course of practising their religion.
President Buhari on Sunday, November 10, urged Muslims to resist any form of vices that are contrary to the teachings and personal examples of the Prophet Muhammad.
The president made this known while speaking in goodwill message issued through his media aide, Garba the occasion of the Maulud celebration to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
He said the indiscriminate killing of innocent people, the kidnapping of female students and forcing them into marriage and conversion is contrary to teachings and personal examples of the Prophet Muhammad.
He stated that violent extremism by a minority of misguided elements who are using religion to cover-up their criminal agenda is posing a major challenge on the image of Islam.
He, however, adivised, the Muslims in the country to frustrate and stop the spread of violent ideologies that are causing tragedies around the world.
The present wished them a peaceful celebration and urged them to use this occasion to renew their resolve in promoting, love and peaceful coexistence in the country.
