The commissioner of police in Enugu State, Mr Suleiman Balarabe, has warned trouble-makers and political thugs to steer clear of Enugu State during and after the Saturday’s elections.
Balarabe gave the warning on Friday in Enugu after a meeting with senior officers of the command, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and heads of department ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly Elections.
“Those nursing any plan to cause any breach of peace should have a change of mind as anyone caught will be made to face the full weight of the law,’’ he warned.
The commissioner further revealed that adequate security arrangements had been made in partnership with other security agencies in the state.
“We have made our deployment; and we are maintaining patrols as well as stop-and-search at a reasonable distance to some polling/collation centres for easy contact,’’ he said.
Balarabe, however, urged officers and men of the command to continue to remain professional in performance of their electoral security duties.
According to him, you must be neutral and be ready at all times to discharge your security duties creditably well avoiding the issue of taking side.
“Police officers and men must provide security to polling units/stations and collation centres.
“They must not allow act or exhibition of lawlessness within their area of responsibilities,’’ he added. (NAN)
