What Jonathan Said About Buhari’s Govt During DSS Invasion Of NASS

5 Min Read

Former President Goodluck Jonathan tacitly weighed in on Tuesday’s acrimonious invasion of the National Assembly Complex by agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) by reminding Nigerians of what he told them ahead of the 2015 general election.

Recall that masked and heavily-armed officials of the DSS took over the National Assembly Complex on Tuesday, blocking lawmakers from making their way into the chambers, in a move that was widely condemned across the nation.

At the time the invasion was going on, Jonathan took to his verified Facebook page to remind Nigerians that he warned them against voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by Muhammadu Buhari back in 2015.

The rehashed message read: “The choice before Nigerians in the coming election is simple: A choice between going forward and going backward; between the new ways and the old ways; between freedom and repression; between a record of visible achievements and beneficial reforms and desperate power seekers with empty promises.”

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo however sacked the Director General of DSS, Lawal Daura, for the invasion.

Daura was replaced with Matthew Seiyefa, a man from Jonathan’s home state of Bayelsa.

Some of the ex-president’s followers reacted to the message by hailing Jonathan’s administration’s human rights records and begging for forgiveness for not supporting him in 2015.

Read some reactions below:

Adams Lekside I regretted my actions during 2015 election. I was among those Nigerians who’s in disguise choose darkness, tyranny, oppression, #365 to $1 instead of #187 to $1.
Here is my confession
GEJ please forgive me

Usman Sunusi Gwarzo You are vindicated by Almighty Allah. You have seen what a lot of people have not seen. People equate your kindness with weakness. But now everyone including the unborn are paying for it. May Almighty save our democracy from the hands of Nigerian enemies, Ameen.

Gazali Muhammad Adc Shuni Exactly Sir God bless you. A leader who lead by example. We missed you!

Obe Olaniran Allen The most unforgivable sin of president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Gcfr is to believed in free and fair elections. That is exactly what put Nigeria into the mess that we are witnessing today. It is now crystal clear that pvc is not the solution to Nigeria problem but immediate impeachment of buhari because he doesn’t believe in free and fair elections.

Okereke Johnson Solomon Am so sorry sir, I was among those who risk their life to install this terrorist cum unrepentant dictator. I pray God forgives me

Evergreen Solo God will always bless you sir you saw this but they refuse to understand what you are saying now they are enjoy it

Okwudili Jude Ubadi Mr President what you said during the last general election is what is happening now.History Will see u as the best president we ever have in Nigeria. We hope that God will see us through.

Onyedikachi Aboaja Gentle-Radical After fela in prophecies you are the next. Many things you prophesied is happening now. They said you are corrupt and weak, I said to them no wahala. Let them stay with their incorruptible mighty pmb and me, I have moved on with my GEJ. Sir you are more than lucky to be alive witnessing these. Long live Gej

However, some followers attacked the ex-president, saying Nigeria was worse under him.

Timothy Bolofinde GEJ DID WORSE!!! A POLICE COMMISSIONER RULED RIVERS. OUR HOUSE MEMBERS CLIMBED GATES TO HOLD SITTING. ITS ALL THE SAME THING

Kayode Kayrooy Joseph As if u’re different from them,…… ”only a thief knows how to tail another thief’s footsteps on the surface of the rock”
