Former Technical Adviser for Nigeria’s national senior team, the Super Eagles, Bonfrere Jo has alleged that Nigeria’s game against Italy at the USA 94 World Cup tournament was sold by coach Clemens Westerhof.
Westerhof was the coach of the Nigerian side that is still regarded as the golden generation of Nigerian football.

The Super Eagles lost to the Italians 2-1 in a bitterly fought match that still evokes emotions in the hearts of old football fans in Nigeria.
The match was nearly won before Roberto Baggio netted the equaliser a minute before stoppage time. He scored the winning goal from the penalty spot minutes later.
Bonfrere Jo who was the technical assistant to Westerhof at the time, alleged during a radio interview with Brila FM, Lagos, that the Dutch coach sold the game for $10,000.
“Yes Everyone blames the coach. The coach did something wrong and we lost before the game started.
“He sold the game for $100,000, that’s why we lost against Italy. If you don’t believe, you can ask the players.” he said.
