West Ham Sign Former Arsenal Keeper

2 Min Read

Manuel Pellegrini has made his first signing as West Ham manager.

He completed the signing of former Arsenal and Swansea Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski for a reported fee of £7 million (€8m/$9m).

The shot-stopper is currently in Russia with the Polish national team for the world cup

Fabianski was signed with a view to replace hugely experienced, but error-prone Joe Hart who was on loan from Manchester City but will not be bought by West Ham.

Fabianski spent three years at Arsenal and was in goal when the Gunners won the FA cup in 2014 before he moved to Swansea where he became a stalwart missing just three Premier League games over the course of four campaigns.

Fabianski, happy with his new move said: “West Ham is a massive club so I’m really happy to be joining at such an exciting time here,

“I will do my best on and off the pitch to help the team to achieve the best results possible and can’t wait to start this new chapter of my career.”

Director of football at West Ham, Mario Husillos had nice things to say about the keeper “Lukasz is an experienced and established Premier League goalkeeper, with great quality that he has shown at both domestic and international level,

“He fits perfectly the mould of the modern goalkeeper, with excellent agility, presence and distribution, and will bring strong competition to the position.

“Of course, at this moment, Lukasz is fully focused on the World Cup finals with Poland. We wish him all the very best out in Russia and look forward to welcoming him upon his return to England later this summer.”
