West Ham has turned to former club manager David Moyes for a second spell at the club after the sack of Manuel Pellegrini who saw the door after losing to Leicester City.
David Moyes first coached the Hammers between 2017 to 2018. The 55-year-old Scott signed an 18 months contract that begins with the match against Bournemouth on new year’s day.
“It feels great to be home,” said Moyes.
“I’ve missed being here because I really enjoyed it and I feel like I’ve got unfinished business, so I can’t wait to get started.”
It’s a straight swap really as the new manager was swapped for the former manager a year ago when the club decided to move in a different direction.
“I’m feeling very proud that I’m back here at West Ham, but more importantly I’ll be looking to see what I can do, what I can make improvements to and how we can get some wins with the players,” said Moyes, who began his management career at Preston North End in 1998.
“I do believe that the squad of players I’ve got here is a better squad of players than when I took over before, so I am looking forward to working with them.
The board is happy to bring the Scot onboard, they believe he will move the club in the right direction again. West Ham lost their last four games under Pellegrini but would be hoping for a better result against a difficult Bournemouth.
“David proved in his short time with the club he was capable of getting results and we believe he will start moving the club in the right direction once again,” said Hammers joint-chairman David Sullivan.
“He knows the club well and he built strong relationships during that time which will be crucial for the work that needs to be done going forward.”
