The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has apologised for the inconveniences caused to Ndigbo in the north when the group and others issued a notice for Igbo people to quit the region in 2017.
President of AYCF, Alhaji Yerima Shettima tendered the apology on Friday when he led some Arewa youths into a meeting with Leader of Biafran Independent Movement (BIM), Ralph Uwazuruike in Owerri.
He said it was important for indigenes of the North and the South-East to live in harmony wherever they found themselves across the nation.
Shettima said, “Some elements are working against the unity of Igbo in the North that is why we issued the quit order, but now we want to prove to the world that the two races are still together.

“I came to preach peace and unity and peaceful coexistence between the Igbo and Northerners because we see everybody in the country as one.
“Our earlier position on Igbo in the North is regretted, we are suing for peace that will usher in peaceful coexistence and I guarantee security of Igbo in the North.”
Reacting, Uwazuruike described the move as a “bold” step towards lasting peaceful co-existence between the two regions.
He vowed to reciprocate by ensuring that Northerners are not harassed in Igbo land.
