Arsene Wenger has hailed striker Alexis Sanchez for a wonderful performance against Burnley, describing him as a ‘street fighter’.
The Chilean forward scored his ninth and 10th goal of the season, an opener and a game-winner for the Gunners inSaturday’s match with Burnley.
Arsenal struggled at Emirates for 70 minutes before Sanchez relieved them by firing in a Kieran Gibbs’ cross.
Calum Chambers then added his first senior goal two minutes later.
And Sanchez sealed off the 3 – 0 victory with a second goal in the first minute of the extra-time.
“It was a top performance from Alexis Sanchez,” Wenger told the BBC.
“His quality is exceptional, he takes responsibility and goes at people. He fights, he can score, that is what you want from great players.”
Arsene Wenger then praised the general performance of the team.
“It was important not to concede a goal and in the end it was a comfortable win but everyone works hard in the Premier League,” the Frenchman said.
“It was a question of patience and quality and I think we did all of that,” he added.
Wenger was able to welcome back Theo Walcott for the first time in 11 months following a serious knee injury.
“That appearance from Theo Walcott gives him the confidence to play again. I think he will soon be back to his best level.”
