Wenger baffled as Ramsey, others suffer injury

3 Min Read

According to reports from a news conference held by Arsenal, Aaron Ramsey might not be fielded for the rest of the year.

Ramsey’s brace against Galatasaray was a significant boost to the actuality of him regaining full form, but the result of a scan carried out on him on Thursday night might jeopardize chances of him continuing to impress.

“We have the scan last night and I don’t know enough the extent of his injury,” Wenger told a news conference.

The 23-year-old’s injury is a big blow to Wenger who is currently battling with jeers from frustrated Arsenal fans.

The Gunners are to clash with Newcastle on Saturday and the absence of Nacho Monreal , Laurent Koscielny and now, Ramsey is a threat to the team.

Wenger is wary of the leak in his defense, “Defensively, I have 24 hours to think about it and I will find a solution,” he said.

“We have to play someone with almost no experience or someone who is not used to playing in the position.

“Before Stoke, we got three clean sheets in a row, but always the last game that is judged for the quality of the team.

“This is the modern game. Our last game was Galatasaray and we defended well there. I agree we didn’t defend well at Stoke.”

The Frenchman didn’t confirm the possibility of him signing Lucas Silva, but hinted that the club is likely to sign a new defender in January.

“If everybody is fit and available, we don’t need to go on the transfer market, but we have to consider that Koscielny could be a question mark with his fitness, so we have to go out on the transfer market, yes,” he said.

“There will be very little activity because all the big clubs want to keep their players. It will be as usual — quiet in the first three weeks and then frenetic in the last three or four days. Usually, the transfer market in January is not very active.”
