There is usually an air of skepticism when it comes to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and paying wages. It’s a problem they face constantly when it comes to coaches.
Sunday Oliseh complained numerous times that he had to pay for a lot of things out-of-pocket, also Samson Siasia has faced similar problems with wages, even claiming recently that the Federation is owing him money.
So with the hiring and unveiling of a new coach for the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr, questions have been asked to how he would be paid so as not to suffer any embarrassment.
The president of the (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has answered these questions in a bid to calm Nigerians down and allay any fears over the payment of Rohr’s wages.
Pinnick, in a YouTube interview, said a yet-to-be-named oil company has agreed to bankroll the new coach salaries saving the NFF the trouble.
He said in the interview, “For transparency and accountability, this sponsor will pay money to the NFF financial consultants, Financial Derivatives, who will then pay the coach,
“Financial Derivatives, headed by Bismark Rewane, a man of impeccable character, will interface with the sponsor. The NFF will not pay the coach directly.”
