The Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dindyadi, has been severely bashed on social media for allegedly staying anonymous while the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) harassed Nigerian youths.
The attacks came as the minister reacted to the disbandment of SARS by Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu on Sunday.
“I urge Nigerians to see the disbandment of SARS, as government’s commitment to deepening relationship between Nigerians and the police, for better service delivery.
“Let’s continue to work together to secure our communities,” Dingyadi wrote via his official Twitter handle.
However, many Nigerians said they were not impressed by the minister’s alleged anonymity before the announcement of the scrapping.

Shame on you
1) For holding an office that almost no one is aware of
2) For not pushing for better salaries for @PoliceNG
3) For not ensuring that they are properly reformed and trained
4) For not ensuring that they even have a database for arrested or detained civilians

Minister of what??? 👂
So there’s IGP then minister of police. This is one of the unnecessary office that needs to be scrapped too. It’s a total waste of public funds, no offense.

Don't urge us to see anything, it has been said before and we saw no changes, this time ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! If you want us to work together start by doing the right thing and adhering to our demands. Lord knows we haven't asked for much, we have only asked for what we deserve.

The Herald recalls that Dingyadi last Monday promised to ensure a comprehensive investigation into allegations of infractions against SARS personnel.
He stated this in a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Osaigbovo Ehisienmen a day after IGP Adamu banned SARS and other police units from routine patrols and stop and search operations.
The minister said the investigation was to secure justice for the victims and reprimand erring officers involved in such violation of citizens’ right and unprofessional conducts.
SARS was scrapped a week later.
