Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie is positive that Nigeria will pick the needed 3 points against the Matildas of Australia come Friday in their second Group D match at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Oparanozie, who scored an own goal in the 3-3 thriller Monday evening, told FIFA.com that rallying from behind to level the score line with the Scandinavians was big morale booster to the African Champions.
Having put the unfortunate embarrassment behind her and clearly pleased with the end result,Oparanozie is directing her focus on Nigeria’s next group D challenge.
“This draw feels like a win,” Oparanozie told FIFA.com after the match.
“After today, we are ready to take on any team,” Oparanozie said confidently when asked about how she would prepare for Australia. “We are not afraid to face anyone. We are ready.
“There’s no word to explain this feeling,” Oparanozie said smiling. “It’s a great feeling. Having gone down two goals and having come back to level it is quite tremendous. We feel very happy.
“It really did help,” Nigeria’s No9 explained. “It motivated us a whole lot. It was a good thing knowing that the crowd was behind us. They wanted to see us score; they wanted to see us do more. That really made us push harder and give our all.”
