The Nigerian Military has said that they will accept the leader of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad also known as Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, should he decide to surrender.

The Army however stated that Shekau’s surrender will only be accepted if he follows the prescribe procedure for surrender during an armed conflict or war.

In a report by Daily Trust, this was disclosed by the cordinator of the Directorate of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General John Enenche during an interview on Channels TV.

The Major General was quoted to have said that “Shekau’s recently released videos are subjected to forensic analysis. There are rumours that they are ready to surrender. If the insurgents truly want to surrender, there is a procedure to do that. If he (Shekau) surrenders through the procedure, we will accept it.”
