Former England captain, Wayne Rooney is about to sign a two-year deal with DC United.
The deal which would be finalised on Monday is worth $5 million annually.
The 32-year-old will only be able to pen the deal when the transfer window opens on July 10.
The American football club are expected to open their new football pitch on July 14.
Everton’s manager Sam Allardyce had said Rooney might not get a starting spot next season, which could have been the reason why the former Manchester United captain’s representatives for some time have been negotiating a move from Everton.
During his time in Manchester United, Rooney won five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.
He was awarded the EPL Footballer of the Year in 2010.
