Watchman of Jangebe school helped bandits abduct schoolgirls – Matawalle

2 Min Read
Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle

The Governor of Zamfara State has said that the watchman of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, helped the bandits that kidnapped 279 schoolgirls from the school recently.

Matawalle stated this during an appearance on Channels Television‘s “Politics Today”.

Recall that the governor had said Nigerians would be shocked if he revealed those behind the kidnapping.

This caused the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to dare him to name them “even if heavens fall” or be considered an accomplice to kidnapping.

Asked to name those behind the abduction, Matawalle said that the bandits revealed that the watchman was complicit.

However, he said that an investigation was being conducted on the identities of the other abductors.

“…Even the watchman of the school…. The children have mentioned that when they were there; after releasing them, the bandits were telling them (the schoolgirls) to greet the watchman for them.

“They even mentioned his name that he is the one who gave them the go-ahead to come, so he was involved.

“They have said this in front of the commissioner of police in Zamfara state. Investigation will be carried out and all people involved will be known,” Matawalle stated.
