2 Min Read

Dangote Group continues to touch lives as it lends its support to the Nigerian National Centenary Programme, flagged off by President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, in grand style at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja on Monday February 4, 2013, before an audience of eminent Nigerians and a live audience of millions watching at home.

One of the highlights of the event was the broadcast of a 15-minute documentary tagged: The Journey to Amalgamation, which was proudly sponsored by Dangote Group, about the creation of modern Nigeria.

The documentary takes viewers on an engaging journey from the early empires and great city-states to the legends of pre-colonial Nigeria and the stories of those individuals who fought valiantly to preserve the sovereignty of Nigeria in the face of colonial rule.

Dangote Group supported the production of the documentary because of the company’s unwavering belief in Nigeria and the importance of celebrating her history.

Aliko Dangote, GCON, President/Chief Executive, Dangote Group said “We are passionate about our country and we support projects that will bring us together as a people. It is important for all Nigerians to learn more about their history understand where they are coming from and feel proud about what we have achieved as a nation.”

The Journey to Amalgamation was commissioned for the evening by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and marks the beginning of a broader array of content that will be produced to celebrate the Centenary and to share Nigerian history and culture with the world. The documentary was produced by OutSource Media, a content production company that has also been engaged to produce feature-length documentary films for the Centenary project.
