Wasteful: See the Shocking Stats Behind Ronaldo’s Third Game Without a Goal

3 Min Read

First, it was brushed off as nothing, but now, fans of Cristiano Ronaldo have to be worried with the striker’s inability to find the net just yet.

The Portuguese forward has played every minute of Juventus’ 3 league games and is yet to register a goal

What more. he’s actually taking a whopping amount of shots, but all to no avail.

Watching the game against Parma yesterday, one gets the impression that perhaps some worry has started to creep into the forward’s mind as he took shot after shot with no happy ending.

Ronaldo has now taken 23 shots and has been unable to find the target with any, this places him on the top of a very surprising list: Most number of shots without scoring in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

The Portugal captain is known for his prolific form and usually scores with ease, but it just hasn’t happened as Mario Mandzukic and Blaise Matuidi stole the show for the Italian champions with goals o either side of a Gervinho equaliser.

The other players on that list include, Nantes midfielder Valentin Rongier with 15 shots, Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke with 13 shots at goal, Toulouse striker Andy Delort (12) and Lyon ace Nabil Fekir (11)

Juventus take on Sassuolo next and Ronaldo will be hopeful that this time he can break his duck.

His manager, Max Allegri has backed him to score, explaining why he thinks it’s taking a while for Ronaldo to get off the mark.

“It is always hard to play against Parma for us. We started slowly but we did better in the second half I feel.” he said

“Cristiano Ronaldo? Well the Serie A isn’t an easy league. It is a different league compared to the Liga so he will need to adjust his game. Even so, he played a solid game and he helped the team out. He will now have some time to rest and get ready for our next games. He will score many goals for us in the future…”.
