A recent study has revealed that washing dishes after a long day can help reduce stress.
Adam Hanley, one of the study authors and a doctoral candidate in Florida State University, America said “I’ve had an interest in mindfulness for many years, both as a contemplative practitioner and a researcher.
“I was particularly interested in how the mundane activities in life could be used to promote a mindful state and, thus, increase overall sense of well-being.”
The researchers explored how washing dishes can promote a positive state of mindfulness (a meditative method of focusing attention on the emotions and thoughts of the present moment.)
After observing 51 participants, they discovered that 27 per cent reported a decrease in nervousness while 25 per cent reported an increase in mental inspiration.
