A new reserch at the Oregon State University has revealed that drinking more beer helps people lose weight.
According to the research report published in the journal Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, the researchers revealed that weight loss is one of the many effects of xanthohumol, a natural flavonoid found in hops.
The researchers tested various levels of xanthohumol effects on the human system using lab mice which were fed high-fat diets.
According to the researchers, the highest dosage of the xanthohumol substance administered reduced bad cholesterol by 80 percent while insulin level dropped by 42 percent.
The report also indicated that inflammation biomarker levels also known as Interleukin-6 was reduced by 78 per cent.
Xanthohumol according to the researcher are only naturally found in hop plants adding that such products like Beer, Hop tea, or other beverages whose sources are from hop or its extracts could help in greatly reducing weight.
One of the researchers, Miranda said, “This is the first time we’ve seen one compound with the potential to address so many health problems.”
He added that: “These were very dramatic improvements,”
