WAEC Begins August 17 as Secondary schools resume

Federal Government has announced that the examination of West African Examination Council (WAEC) will begin August 17.

FG arrived at the decision to reopen secondary schools for exiting students after a virtual meeting with government officials from Federal Minister of Education, Commissoners  of Education in all 36 states of the country, selected members of National Union of Teachers (NUT) and other stakeholders

For this reason, SS3 students have been asked to resume on August 4 to enable them prepare adequately for the upcoming WAEC exam.

Ben Goong, Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education made this known in a statement.

“The meeting also resolved a passionate appeal be made to the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 and public spirited Nigerians for assistance to schools across the country to enable them fast track the preparations safe reopening, as agreed.

“Another meeting is to be convened tomorrow between the Federal Ministry of Education and Chief Executives of examination bodies namely NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS to harmonise their examination dates, which will be conveyed to stakeholders expeditiously by the Federal Ministry of Education,”
