No fewer than 30 bandits met their bitter end on Monday after matching into a trap set by villagers and local vigilantes in Majifa village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to Daily Trust, the villagers assisted by the vigilante laid an ambush after getting information that the bandits were going to attack the village in the early hours of Monday.
“Resident of the village received the information that bandits were planning to attack them that night, so they ambushed them and God helped them to repel the attack and they killed at least 30 of the bandits,” the newspaper quoted an unnamed resident as saying.
Other bandits were said to have rushed back on the back of camels to retrieve the bodies of their comrades.
The villagers reportedly woke up to find that the bodies had been taken away before sunrise.

The incident is the third in as many weeks in which villagers sprang on bandits.
Recall that residents of Magama in Jibia Local Government Area of the state confronted some bandits and killed three of them on Monday.
Before then, many attackers were killed when residents of Yan Marafa and Mununu villages in Faskari Local Government Area confronted them.
