A former professional boxer, Mike Tyson has admitted to one of the most embarrassing confessions in his life after revealing that he was raped by a man as a child.
The father of eight revealed that he was raped by a man at the age of 7 while walking down as street.
He further revealed that he was bullied and sexually abused bur finally managed to escape the horrific incident.
Tyson during a recent interview revealed that he never saw the man who took advantage of him again and had to keep the incident a secret for the fear of being stigmatized.
Tyson during the interview with ESPN’s Jeremy Schapp on Monday stated that much of the anger he channeled into his craft was from his previous experience of abuse.
He added that he opted to be strong so that he will never be subjected to such a situation again.
He said while refusing to go into details of the incident that he will “like to keep that where it was in the past.”
Speaking on why he rarely mentioned the incident, Tyson said: “It was no one’s business to know, people just don’t talk about it because to some people they believe it’s demasculating them.
“I learned that it doesn’t make you any less of a man because it happened.”
In reply to how the event changed him, Tyson added: “I don’t know if it did or not… I don’t always remember, but maybe I do but I don’t. I’m not ashamed or embarrassed by it.”
