Liverpool are close to wrapping up a deal that will bring goalkeeper Victor Valdes to Anfield. The Spanish goalkeeper is expected to undergo a medical next month.
Valdes is a free agent after seeing off his contract with Barcelona, the player is currently recovering from an injury he picked up early this year.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of the 32-year-old and wants Valdes , who was rumoured to be joining Monaco in March, to provide competition for their current number one Simon Mignolet.
Liverpool have held talks with Valdes and he has indicated his desire to move to Anfield but the move will not be official until tests are completed in October. Other clubs still have the opportunity to lure the three-time Champions League winner but the Reds are confident that they will get their man.
Bringing in a goalkeeper was the only thing Liverpool were unable to achieve during the transfer window, the inclusion of Valdes will improve competition in that area and provide Rodgers with options.
The Spaniard’s Champion’s league experience will be immense for the Anfield side who will face Real Madrid, FC Basel and Razgard.
