Victor Moses is hopeful that his move to Liverpool will breathe new life to his career – just as it did for Daniel Sturridge.
Liverpool have paid £1.5 million to take the 22-year-old on loan for the rest of their campaign but the deal include the option of a permanent switch.
The Nigerian international has been at Stanford Bridge for only a year but has fallen out of favour since Mourinho took charge in June and has not been in a match-day squad this term.
Daniel Sturridge was in a similar position at Chelsea before completing a transfer worth £15 million to Liverpool in January and has now scored 16 goals in 20 games.
Moses admit that Daniel Sturridge played a major role in his decision and said “I spoke to Sturridge and he wanted me to come here. He said I’d love it here but he didn’t need to say much. The next morning, I had a word with my agent and told him it could be the right move for me. It’s a massive club with great history. The club are doing well, so I wanted to come here and enjoy my football.
“Daniel is a great player and at the moment is probably the best striker in the Premier League. The most important thing as a player; to enjoy yourself. Daniel’s certainly doing that at the moment. Not playing games can really damage your career.”
Moses is one of eight new faces in Anfield this summer and joins a team that has made a perfect start to their League campaign.
“the players have been doing great”, he added “I’m definitely looking forward to it. I watched a few matches before I came here and they’ve done fantastically well. I can’t wait to start training with them and get into the team and get to know everyone.
“The manager has done very well and the formation and players here will help me. I just want to gel in, get to know the players and play with them. There are a lot of quality players here, and they’re winning games and creating chances. It’s a massive thing for me to be here.”
