The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the death of Mr Benedict Kalu, the Vice Principal of Community Secondary School, Noyo Alike in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the educationist, who appeared to be ill, died after slumping on a motorcycle that was conveying him to a chemist’s shop to buy drugs to treat himself.
The incident occurred over the weekend in the state capital, Abakaliki.
To avoid being arrested, traders in the Gunning Road Meat Market where the incident occurred were said to have taken to their heels instead of helping Kalu.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, George Okafor, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said policemen were deployed immediately to the scene on getting the information but Kalu had died before their arrival.
