Veteran Nigerian music producer Samklef, known for his hit song “Molowo Noni,” is claiming credit for discovering and shaping the careers of some of Afrobeats’ biggest stars.
In a series of posts on his social media platform, Samklef listed artists including Simi, Wizkid, and Olamide as beneficiaries of his talent-spotting and production skills. He also mentioned mentoring talents like Dami Krane and Phenom.
Samklef suggests his humility may have led some to overlook his contributions to the industry. “Because I was humble and quiet some people try to downplay me,” he wrote.
