2 Min Read

Renowned Nollywood actor Sam Dede is gearing up to reprise his iconic role as ‘Ebube’ in the much-anticipated sequel to the 2001 action-packed thriller “Issakaba.” The veteran actor recently teased fans about the upcoming project on his Instagram account, expressing excitement about the return of the beloved character.

Sam Dede

Issakaba!!! The Myth returns. A river does not flow through a forest without bringing down trees. Men with evil minds lurk in the dark. But….. Justice is mine,” wrote Sam Dede, hinting at the intriguing storyline awaiting fans in the sequel.

Lancelot Imasuen, the original director of “Issakaba,” will once again helm the directorial responsibilities for the upcoming film. Earlier this month, Imasuen utilized social media to promote the second round of auditions, generating heightened anticipation among fans.

“Issakaba,” an anagram of Bakassi, is rooted in the true story of the Bakassi Boys, a grassroots vigilante group founded in 1998 to combat pervasive crime in Nigeria’s South-East region. The film follows Ebube, played by Sam Dede, as he leads the Issakaba boys in a mission to confront armed robbery plaguing their village. The narrative is rich with mystical charms and innovative tactics employed by the characters to swiftly deliver justice.

The original 2001 five-part film featured an ensemble cast including Chiwetalu Agu, Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi, Mike Ogundu, and John Okafor. Other notable actors such as Andy Chukwu, Zulu Adigwe, Diewait Ikpechukwu, Remmy Ohajianya, Emeka Nwafor, Tom Njemanze, Uche Odoputa, and Emeka Ani contributed to the film’s success.

While production for the sequel is in full swing, fans are eagerly awaiting the official release date, anticipating a thrilling continuation of the Issakaba legacy.
