A winner to represent Nigeria at the 2016 edition of the Mobile Premier Awards in Barcelona, Spain has emerged on Thursday.
Francis Osifo’s VergePOS was declared winner of the Lagos Appcircus event which held on October 8, having pitched against eight other Android apps at the event held at the Co-Creation Hub, Lagos.
VergePOS is an inventory management and Point of Sale solution for micro, small and medium scale retailers. It helps them track sales and gather analytics on customer sentiments
The winning app of the Appcircus event represents Nigeria at the Mobile Premier Awards, one of the one of the sessions at the mobile world congress, the largest cross-platform app showcase in the mobile industry, when it will be further pitched against other Appcircus winners from all over the world.
The eight apps that made the final shortlist were Scantranx POS, Verge POS, Swap Naija, RouteBuzz, BrainFriend, Campus Pal, Kunku, Koko for Messenger and Ask an Expert Live Chat.
The Lagos Appcircus event, sponsored this year by Intel and Co-Creation Hub Nigeria, was aimed at giving new developers an opportunity to pitch their apps against others’ before a jury of top experts who would the choose the best, which would then represent Nigeria at the MPA 2016.
Previous winners of the MPA include apps such as Waze, Layar and Swiftkey.
