A Nigeria Customs Service warehouse belonging to the Federal Operations Unit Zone A, based in Lagos was engulfed in flames on Thursday which did a lot of damage to the property and vehicles inside.
The fire destroyed the warehouse’s contents which included confiscated automobiles and imported parboiled rice.
One anonymous eyewitness stated, “The fire razed substantial part of the warehouse destroying six trucks, 15 cars/vans and a fully loaded truck with seized foreign parboiled rice.”
He added ” the goods worth several millions of naira were destroyed in the inferno.”
Before operatives of the Lagos State Fire Service arrived at the scene with several water trucks to try and control the extent of the damage.
Rasaki Musibau the Deputy Head of the Lagos State Fire Service in a report to the media the fire started when labourers who were burning cleared grasses must have tampered with or burst a cylinder stored under one of the burnt vehicles.
