A rather unexpected occurred ahead of Sunday’s much expected Manchester Derby: multi-Olympic gold medal winner Usain Bolt met up with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero for a unique lesson in speed.
After identifying Aguero as City’s most dangerous player, Bolt – a United fan- pretends to help Sergio improve his pace , but as the session progressed it became clear that Bolt had something else in mind.
His passing was excessively poor, and he made the Argentinean run all over the pitch in a bid to keep up with him. Instead of trying to improve the players sprinting skills, the Jamaican was trying to tire him out and hopefully influence the result on Sunday.
After the training session, Agüero commented, “Usain was terrible at the beginning, but I realised after a while that he was just trying to wear me out. When he started to play properly, he showed some skills though.
“He is not good enough to play for City, but I think he would have a good chance of getting into the United team.”
Usain Bolt admitted: “Sergio has caused United a lot of problems over the years, so I thought I’d drop in on him to see if I could tire him before the game on Sunday. But turns out he’s pretty fit.
“I have to admit I was impressed with his qualities, United definitely need to keep him quiet but I’m sure they can do that and get three points.”
