A Louisiana pastor is taking Easter quite literally this year for his church’s Easter program by getting sealed in a coffin for three days and emerging on Easter morning.
Bishop Rickey Moore with Sunrise Baptist Church said his church is presenting a four-part drama this Easter weekend, starting at 1 p.m. on Good Friday, including Jesus’ trial, the garden of Gethsemane, the crucifixion, and the entombment. He told KDAM-TV in Mississippi his time in the coffin is no stunt but just his attempt to save souls and get people to accept Jesus. He’ll spend his time praying and fasting, he said.
