US Corruption: Trump’s VP Nominee JD Vance Calls for Mass Firing of DC Bureaucrats and Civil Servants

4 Min Read

In a controversial statement, JD Vance, the Vice Presidential nominee for Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, has proposed a sweeping overhaul of the federal bureaucracy. Speaking to a supportive audience, Vance outlined a radical plan to dismiss all senior bureaucrats and civil servants in Washington, D.C., and replace them with individuals loyal to their administration.

Vance emphasized that the greatest threat to the American people is not from foreign powers like Russia or China, but from within the United States. “It’s the Deep State in DC,” he declared. Vance’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among some conservatives who believe that the federal bureaucracy, or the “administrative state,” has become too powerful and is undermining democratic governance.

“We should seize the administrative state for our purposes,” Vance said. “We should fire all of the people—every single middle-level bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state. Replace them with our people.” This stark vision of governance marks a significant shift from traditional Republican calls to reduce the size and scope of government through deconstruction.

Vance’s proposal includes a strategy for Trump’s potential second term. “I think Trump is going to run again in 2024, I think he’ll win in 2024 and win by a margin such that he will be the President of the United States by January 2025,” Vance asserted. He advised Trump to “fire every mid-level bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, replace them with our people, and when the courts stop you, stand before the country like Andrew Jackson did and say, ‘The chief justice has made his ruling, now let him enforce it.’”

This statement has sparked a mix of reactions across the political spectrum. Supporters on Twitter praised Vance’s boldness and alignment with Trump’s agenda. “Love that Vance wants to clean the swamp as much as Trump does. They have unfinished business draining it,” one user commented. Others highlighted the political acumen of choosing Vance as a running mate, noting that it demonstrates Trump’s ability to forgive past critics. “This could be a brilliant political move: Trump demonstrating that he doesn’t hold grudges by selecting as VP someone who was a Never-Trumper and previously said some very caustic things about him,” another tweet read. “Nothing disproves a Hitler narrative like forgiveness.”

Critics, however, argue that Vance’s plan could lead to a constitutional crisis and undermine the checks and balances that are essential to American democracy. The proposal to disregard court rulings echoes a dangerous precedent that could erode judicial authority and the rule of law.

Vance’s remarks are indicative of a broader trend within Trump’s base, which seeks to challenge and reshape the federal government fundamentally. As the 2024 election approaches, these radical proposals are likely to fuel further debate about the direction of the country and the future of its institutions. Whether this approach will resonate with the broader electorate remains to be seen, but it undeniably sets the stage for a contentious and ideologically charged campaign season.
