2 Min Read

Two US airbases in Iraq have been hit by multiple missiles in retaliation for the gruesome murder of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani by the US government.

The US Department of Defence disclosed that two sites in Iraq have been heavily attacked by ballistic missiles, one in Irbil and another site in Al Asad

However, it remains unclear if there are any casualties.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has taken credit for the attack claiming it was retaliation for the assassination of Soleimani.

It threatened allies of the US government that they would become targets I’d they made against fighting back

Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister released a statement via his verified Twitter account. He claimed the attack was a form of self-defense and the Iranian government was not looking to escalate the war.

“Iran took & concluded proportionate measures  in self-defense under Article 51 if UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens & senior officials were launched.

We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression” Javad Zarif tweeted
