Update: Police arrest Lebanese hit-and-run driver who crushed lady’s leg in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Lebanese man, John Greg, who crushed a lady’s leg in the Victoria Island area of the state on Wednesday.

The Herald earlier reported the incident here…

In a Thursday tweet, state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin said that Greg drove a Toyota 4Runner sport utility vehicle with which he rammed into the victim, Omotomi Akinsanya, while he was driving against traffic in Sanusi Fafunwa Steet, Victoria Island at 7:45 am on Wednesday.

He added that the lady sustained serious injuries to her leg as a result.

Hundeyin said that Greg initially ran off with the vehicle but was chased and brought back to the scene of the incident.

He further disclosed that the Lebanese man has been arrested and is being detained by the command.

The police spokesman added that the Lebanese Embassy has been informed of the incident,

According to him, the victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

“On May 4, 2022 at about 0745hrs, a middle aged Lebanese by name John Greg ‘m’ drove a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road thereby hitting one Omotomi Akinsanya ‘f’ which resulted in serious injuries to her leg.

“He sped off but was chased and arrested.

“Suspect in our custody. Vehicle impounded and in our station. Victim undergoing treatment at LASUTH. Victim’s family duly informed. Embassy of Lebanon duly informed. Investigation ongoing,” Hundeyin tweeted.
