The KwaZulu-Natal provincial police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, provided a significant update in the murder case of South African rapper Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA, during a press briefing on Tuesday evening.
AKA and his friend, Tebello “Tibz” Motshoane, were tragically shot and killed outside a restaurant in Durban in February 2023. The case has been under investigation since then, and this recent announcement brings new information to light.
According to Mkhwanazi, six suspects have been arrested in connection with the double murder. He revealed that these individuals will be appearing in court on Thursday.
A video clip circulating online captures Mkhwanazi detailing the investigation’s progress, including the suspects’ alleged roles and the motive behind the crime. He confirmed that AKA was the targeted individual, stating, “It was clear that AKA was monitored from the airport and Tibz was not the intended target in the murder on Florida Road in Durban.“
