Update: Amotekun Mount Pressure On Abductors In Ekiti As They Lower Ransom

Kidnappers in Ekiti state have slashed their ransom fee for a victim they recently abducted, from N100m to a shocking N10m.

The kidnappers hijacked the car conveying two cousins; Happiness and Oluwaseun, along Isan – Iludun Road and abducted the duo at about 6pm on the 25th of December, (Christmas day).

A combined response from the police, Amotekun Corps and hunters resulted in the release of one of the victims that Friday evening.

The kidnappers, however, escaped with the second victim.

According to a source within the victim’s family, the kidnappers had reached out requesting a whooping N100m ransom.

“We got a call from the kidnappers asking us to pay N100m for us to see our brother, but we begged them saying we didn’t have that amount.

“We saw their call again this (Sunday) afternoon; after series of pleading, they reduced it now to N10m. But we are confused as to where to get such money,” the source said.

The Corps Commander, Ekiti State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, Brig. Gen. Joe Komolafe, however denied any knowledge of a ransom demand.

Komolafe explained that his operatives had been searching the forest with the aim of securing the freedom of the remaining victim, as well as arresting the kidnappers.

“Since Friday when the incident occurred, my personnel have been in the bush and I can tell you that we are making progress with the arrest of the two persons in the forest,” Komolafe said.
