UNILAG Students support ASUU anti-strike faction

2 Min Read

Students of the University of Lagos (Unilag) have shown their eagerness to resume school next week, as clamoured for by some members of the institution’s Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU).

In an interview with journalists on Wednesday, a final year of the Faculty of Arts in the university (names withheld), expressed her regret at the elongated strike and how it would prevent her from graduating at the expected time.

“We were supposed to be mobilised with the NYSC batch A in March but that is no longer certain. We are just being delayed unnecessarily,” she said.
Four other students, in a group interview, also disapproved the strike, as it was the students who were being affected the most, while pointing out that the students had lost a semester to the strike.

It will be recalled that on Monday, controversy began to trail the continued participation of Unilag in the nationwide ASUU strike as some lecturers in the institution gave the branch of the union an ultimatum, that elapses this week, to resume.

The Unilag ASUU leaders, Dr Karo Ogbinaka, however, insisted the university’s continued participation in the strike until it is called off nationwide.
