The United Foam Products Nigeria Ltd. on Friday donated an additional 150 pieces of mattresses to the Kwara Government for use at designated isolation centres to complement its effort in the fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the mattresses, valued at N1.6million, were handed over to the state Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Technical Committee on COVID-19, Mr. Kayode Alabi, in Ilorin.

The Administrative Director of the company, Mr. Samson Oyinloye, said that the mattresses would help in the drive to combat the virus.

Oyinloye recalled that the company had earlier donated 175 pieces of mattresses when the state had yet to record any outbreak of the virus.

He said the items donated would enable the government to further enlarge and decentralize the isolation centres with the “11 confirmed cases of the deadly disease in the state”.

“We were here three weeks ago as a responsible corporate citizen to donate 175 pieces of our mattresses to the Kwara State Government as our contribution to the fight against Coronavirus pandemic.

“As at then, there was no case of the disease in our dear state. Today, we have few cases, which we know will require further enlargement and decentralization of the isolation Centre across the state.

“The company is using this medium to appreciate the efficient and effective ways the government of Kwara is battling the pandemic.

“If not for the quick and timely preparation of the government for this virus, the situation may not be what we are witnessing today,” Oyinloye said.

Receiving the mattresses, Alabi praised the company for its support to the state government in fighting the scourge.

Similarly, the law firm of Peter Olorunisola (SAN) and Co also announced a donation of the borehole to be dug at one of the state isolation centres along with Hajj Camp, LUBCON Road, Ilorin.

A partner at the firm, Mr. Sunkanmi Olorunisola, who announced the borehole donation when he met with the deputy governor, commended the state government for its efforts in tackling the spread of the virus in the state.
