UK’s PM Boris Johnson Appoints New Chief Of Staff

2 Min Read

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson on Thursday  appointed a new chief of staff.

Dan Rosenfield, a former Managing Director of investment banking at Bank of America, will take up the role on Dec. 7, a statement from Number 10 said.

He is expected to spend his first weeks meeting ministers, Conservative MPs and Johnson’s wider team, and will be inducted into the job by Johnson’s current acting chief of staff, Lord Udny-Lister, it added.

Rosenfield currently works at Hakluyt, a strategic advisory firm for businesses and investors.

He previously worked as an official in the British finance ministry for a decade where he was principal private secretary to former finance ministers Alistair Darling and George Osborne from 2007 to 2011.

Lord Udny-Lister is set to continue his role until Jan. 1, which is when Rosenfield takes over.

After he steps aside, Lord Udny-Lister is expected to continue to provide support to both the prime minister and the new chief of staff.

Johnson’s chief advisor, Dominic Cummings, who was unofficially in charge of staff at Number 10, and head of communications, Lee Cain, stepped down from their roles earlier in November.
