The governor promised to install solar-powered lights in the school.

He also promised to carry out a major upgrade of facilities in the hospital to include the construction of new structures as well as the access road.

The Principal of the School, Mrs Theresa Agbo said that Ugwuanyi had continually paid for the accommodation fees of the first and second set of students in the school, numbering 50 and 81 respectively.

Agbo said that the school was established in 1951 by missionaries and was taken over by the Ministry of Health in 1977 during the old Anambra State.

Earlier in his speech, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives,  Mr Toby Okechukwu, on behalf of the people of Awgu LGA, expressed profound gratitude to Gov. Ugwuanyi for his administration’s interventions in the health sector.

He said that bringing back the school to its former glory was commendable.

The parliamentarian donated a transformer to the school in support of the state government’s efforts.

He pledged to provide the school’s library with functional books and reassured the governor of his firm support and solidarity.

Also on ground to receive the governor was the Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Mrs Jane Eneh (Awgu South state constituency); Mr Johnson Chukwuobasi, Awgu Council Chairman; and State Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Alex Ogbonna.

Awgu Local Government Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Oke Udeh, among others, were also present.

The Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Mr Pedro Nwankwo, was represented by the deputy chairman Mr  Lotachukwu Ogbonna.
